Kristin Austin, PhD, ABPP

Kristin Austin, PhD, ABPP is a licensed clinical psychologist in Mississippi and North Carolina and is the only board-certified child and adolescent psychologist in Oxford, Mississippi. Dr. Austin has completed the educational, training, and experience requirements of the American Board of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (ABCCAP), a specialty board of the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).

Dr. Austin received her B.A. from the University of Virginia and received her M.S. and Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. She completed an APA-accredited internship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Kennedy Krieger Institute, an internationally-recognized institution known for improving the lives of children and adolescents. Dr. Austin spent two years at Florida State University working on a clinical trial for children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). As a licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Austin provides individual and family therapy to children and adolescents with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), oppositional behaviors, disruptive behaviors, anxiety, and other difficulties.

Dr. Austin is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA, Division 53), Mississippi Psychological Association (MPA), and National Register of Health Psychologists.

Individual Therapy

Services are provided one-on-one with the child or adolescent. Typical problems addressed in individual therapy are anxiety, fears, depression, emotion regulation, coping, and social skills. Sessions are scheduled for 60 minutes on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

Family Therapy

Services are provided with parent(s) and their child or adolescent and may involve other members of the family as needed. Typical problems addressed in family therapy are behavioral issues, communication difficulties, conflict, and parenting concerns. Sessions are scheduled for 60 minutes on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

Psychological Testing

Evaluations are provided to better understand psychological difficulties such as ADHD, reading comprehension issues, spelling problems, executive functioning difficulties, learning problems, and memory issues. Testing involves a 1-hour intake session, 4-6 hours of testing, and a 1-hour results meeting with a comprehensive report with individualized recommendations. Psychological evaluations are provided to individuals ages 6-25 years old. Testing sessions are scheduled on Saturday mornings.
